The San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in game two of their three game set from Miller Park in MLB action on Saturday.
The San Francisco Giants will look to bounce back after dropping the series opener on Friday by a final score of 4-2. Alen Hanson hit a solo homer while going 2 for 3, while Chris Shaw added an RBI of his own to round out San Fran’s scoring in the loss. Evan Longoria, Brandon Belt and Nick Hundley each contributed a base hit to cap off the Giants’ offense as San Francisco mustered up just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Derek Holland gave up two runs on two hits while walking five and whiffing eight, not factoring in the decision, while Hunter Strickland took the loss to fall to 3-5 this season. Chris Stratton will start game two and is 9-8 with a 4.90 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. This will be Stratton’s second career start against Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build some momentum after opening the series on a high note on Friday. Jesus Aguilar and Ryan Braun each had two RBIs with Braun hitting a home run while Aguilar added a double. Lorenzo Cain added a base hit of his own to round out Milwaukee’s offense as the Brewers had just three hits as a team in the winning effort. Chase Anderson allowed both runs on five hits while striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Josh Vader struck out five of the six batters he faced in relief to improve to 5-1 this season, while Jeremy Jeffress closed out the 9th for his 9th save of the season. Gio Gonzalez will be making his debut for the Brewers in this one and is 7-11 with a 4.57 ERA and 126 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 5-5 with a 3.53 ERA and 62 strikeouts against the Giants.
San Francisco is 0-5 in their last 5 games overall and 1-8 in their last 9 Saturday games while the under is 22-9-2 in their last 33 road games. Milwaukee is 22-10 in their last 32 games against the NL West and 5-2 in their last 7 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. San Francisco is 18-8 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee.
You could make a case for San Fran and the plus money as Gonzalez may have jitters starting for his new team in a park where Gonzalez owns a 6.75 career ERA. However, the Brewers are the team with more to play for here and the Giants just appear to simply be running out of gas at this point. I think the Brew Crew welcome Gonzalez with a big win in game two on Saturday.
