The Pirates banged out nine hits and walked three times with Josh Bell going deep and scoring twice while Jose Osuna had a pair of hits and scored two times.
Right hander Joe Musgrove toes the rubber at St. Louis on Monday. Musgrove comes off of a 7-3 win versus Cincinnati where he allowed two runs and struck out eight over 6.1 frames.
The St. Louis Cardinals avoided a three game sweep at Detroit with a 5-2 victory on Sunday. St. Louis starter John Gant gave up both runs over 6.2 frames to pick up the win.
The Cardinals did their damage on seven hits and three bases on balls with Kolten Wong driving in a run and scoring while Carson Kelly went 2-4 and knocked in a run.
The Cardinals have activated Adam Wainwright from the DL to oppose the Pirates Monday. Wainwright is just 1-3 with a 4.00 ERA and hasn’t pitched since May 13th.
Under is 19-6-1 in Pittsburgh last 26 overall and under is 19-6-1 in Pittsburgh last 26 on grass and Pittsburgh are 3-9 in their last 12 road games. St. Louis are 8-3 in Wainwright’s last 11 Monday starts and are 37-16 in Wainwright’s last 53 home starts.
I honestly don’t know what to expect from Wainwright so perhaps something on Pittsburgh or look elsewhere…
Note-beginning to see Trevor Williams as the Pittsburgh starter.
