Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

For Wednesday’s game, the Diamondbacks are sending out Patrick Corbin. In his 179.2 innings and 11-5 mark this year, Corbin has a 3.01 ERA with 223 Ks and 42 BBS.

The Diamondbacks’ top hitter this year is Paul Goldschmidt, who came into game two on 160 hits, 90 runs, 33 homers and 83 RBI. On Tuesday, Goldschmidt had a hit and a run.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re going with Jon Gray on Wednesday. Over 157.1 innings and an 11-7 record this year, Gray has a 4.69 ERA with 168 Ks and 45 BBs.

Leading the way for the Rockies this season is Trevor Story, who came into game two on 160 hits, 78 runs, 32 homers and 99 RBI. In the Tuesday matchup, Story had a hit and an RBI.

The Diamondbacks are 4-12 in their last 16 Wednesday games and 7-2 in Corbin’s last nine starts. Arizona is also 7-3 in Corbin’s last 10 road starts and 2-8 in his last 10 starts with four days’ rest.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 5-2 in their last seven in game three of a series and 11-2 in Gray’s last 13 Wednesday starts. Colorado is 5-1 in Gray’s last six home starts and 4-1 in his last five starts with four days’ rest.

Corbin has been pretty darn good lately, and hasn’t allowed more than three earned over any of his last seven starts. As for Gray, he’s given up four earned over his last two starts in 10.0 innings and has been mostly solid in his recent outings. This should be a fun pitching matchup but I have to stick with Corbin and the D-Backs here.
