The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet in the finale of their three game AL Central division set from Kauffman Stadium in MLB action on Wednesday.
The Chicago White Sox will look to avoid the sweep and snap their current seven game losing streak following a 6-3 loss in game two on Tuesday. Yoan Moncada, Avisail Garcia and Tim Anderson each had an RBI while Yolmer Sanchez added a double. Daniel Palka, Nicky Delmonico and Ryan LaMarre each had a base hit as well to cap off Chicago’s offense in the losing effort. Dylan Covey took the loss, falling to 5-13 this season after allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings of work. Carlos Rodon will start game three and is 6-5 with a 3.11 ERA and 79 strikeouts this season. In his career, Rodon is 2-2 with a 3.90 ERA and 27 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to pull off the sweep after taking game two on Tuesday. Hunter Dozier led KC with two RBIs while Emilio Bonifacio, Whit Merrifield, Adalberto Mondesi and Alex Gordon each had an RBI with Bonifacio hitting a double while Merrifield and Mondesi each had two hits in the win. Brian Goodwin went 2 for 3 while Ryan O’Hearn added a triple to finish off the Royals’ offense in the win. Brad Keller got the win to improve to 8-6 this season, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six over seven innings of work. Wily Peralta closed out the 9th for his 10th save of the year. Eric Skoglund will start the finale and is 1-5 with a 6.45 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. In his career, Skoglund is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 11 strikeouts against the White Sox.
Chicago is 4-0 in Rodon’s last 4 road starts and 0-7 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 13-3 in Rodon’s last 16 starts against a team with a losing record. Kansas City is 0-4 in Skoglund’s last 4 starts and 7-0 in their last 7 home games while the under is 4-1 in Skoglund’s last 5 home starts against a team with a losing record. The under is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Kansas City.
Skoglund had a decent couple of innings in relief last week, but as a starter, Skoglund hasn’t taken the mound since May, and when he did, he was brutal, allowing four or more runs in six of nine starts, including six runs in back-to-back starts at the end of May. Rodon has allowed four runs in back-to-back starts, so the over may be worth a look, but while the White Sox are on this bad losing skid, I still feel safer putting my money on Rodon as opposed to taking minimal plus money with Skoglund.
