Manny Machado leads the Dodgers in hits this year, coming into this set on 168 hits, 74 runs, 33 homers and 90 RBI. On Thursday, Machado ripped a homer with three hits, two runs and three RBI.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re sending out Jack Flaherty on Friday. Across 132.1 innings and an 8-6 mark this year, Flaherty has a 2.92 ERA with 160 Ks.

St. Louis’ top hitter this season is Marcell Ozuna, who came into this series with 147 hits, 61 runs, 21 homers and 80 RBI. On Thursday, Osuna had two hits, two RBI and a run.

The Dodgers are 35-16 in their last 51 Friday games and 5-13 in their last 18 in game two of a series. LA is 4-0 in Buehler’s last four Friday starts and the under is 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 11-5 in their last 16 in game two of a series. St. Louis is 5-2 in Flaherty’s last seven starts and 3-9 in his last 12 starts in game two of a series.

In Buehler’s last start on Saturday he did fairly well at Coors Field—but did allow a pair of homers, which isn’t hard to do in that stadium. As for Flaherty, he’s cooled down a little bit from his solid August (five quality starts) and hasn’t gotten past the sixth inning in either of his starts this month. He should be fine here though, so I’m going with the Cards on a nice-looking line.
