The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in game two of their three game NL Central division set from Miller Park in MLB action on Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to bounce back and even the set after dropping game one on Friday by a final score of 7-4. Pablo Reyes hit his first homer, a solo shot, while Jordan Luplow added an RBI and a triple. Josh Harrison and Francisco Cervelli each added an RBI with Harrison adding a double, while Josh Bell and Jose Osuna each added a double as well to cap off Pittsburgh’s offense in the loss. Chris Archer took the loss, falling to 4-8 this season after allowing four runs on six hits while striking out eight over five innings of work. Ivan Nova will start game two and is 8-9 with a 4.17 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nova is 2-2 with a 3.03 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to push for a crucial sweep of the Pirates on Sunday if they can bag another win on Saturday. In Friday’s W, Orlando Arcia and Christian Yelich each had two RBIs, with Yelich hitting a homer while Arcia added a double. Travis Shaw and Mike Moustakas each added a solo homer with Moustakas going 3 for 4 at the dish, while Jesus Aguilar added an RBI as well in the win. Domingo Santana and Manny Pina each had a double while Lorenzo Cain chipped in a base hit to round out Milwaukee’s offense in the winning effort. Gio Gonzalez allowed three runs on three hits while walking four and striking out six over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Corbin Burnes got the win to improve to 5-0 while Jeremy Jeffress picked up his 12th save of the year. Zach Davies will start game two and is 2-5 with a 4.75 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. In his career, Davies is 2-3 with a 6.49 ERA and 23 strikeouts against Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is 2-10 in Nova’s last 12 road starts against a team with a winning record and 1-5 in their last 6 road games while the under is 4-0 in Nova’s last 4 starts overall. Milwaukee is 43-21 in their last 64 home games and 7-2 in their last 9 division matchups while the under is 6-1 in Davies’ last 7 starts overall. Pittsburgh is 28-72 in the last 100 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee.

Davies may not have very good numbers against the Pirates, but he’s still allowed just three runs since coming off of the DL. Nova has pitched well as well, but it’s as simple as the Brewers needing this game more while Pittsburgh is simply trying to play spoiler in this spot. I’ll lay the juice with Milwaukee as I see Davies bucking his past and pitching a gem.
