The Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees meet in game two of their three game AL East division set from Yankee Stadium in MLB action on Saturday.
The Toronto Blue Jays will look to bounce back after being shut out in the series opener by a final score of 11-0. Luke Maile had two hits while Teoscar Hernandez, Aledmys Diaz and Devon Travis each had a double. Rowdy Tellez and Richard Urena each added a base hit to cap off Toronto’s offense in the losing effort. Marco Estrada took the loss to fall to 7-11 this season after allowing eight runs on six hits over just 2.2 innings of work. Sean Reid-Foley will start game two and is 1-3 with a 6.86 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. This will be Reid-Foley’s second career start against the Yankees.

The New York Yankees will look to build on their series opening win on Friday, splitting their last 10 games in the process. Giancarlo Stanton, Didi Gregorius and Luke Voit each had two RBIs, with Gregarious hitting his 24th homer of the year while Voit added a double. Andrew McCutchen went 3 for 3 with a solo homer and a double while Aaron Hicks, Gleyber Torres and Brett Gardner each added an RBI while Gary Sanchez went 3 for 4 with a double and Miguel Andujar added a base knock of his own to finish off New York’s offense in the win. Masahiro Tanaka got the win to improve to 12-5 this season after tossing six shutout innings with eight strikeouts. CC Sabathia will start game two and is 7-6 with a 3.54 ERA and 128 strikeouts this season. In his career, Sabathia is 18-11 with a 3.48 ERA and 200 strikeouts against Toronto.
Toronto is 2-12 in their last 14 road games and 5-21 in their last 26 road games against a left-handed starter while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. New York is 23-7 in Sabathia’s last 30 home starts and 68-27 in their last 95 home games while the under is 34-14-3 in Sabathia’s last 51 starts overall. Toronto is 0-6 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Toronto appears to not even have any desire to play spoiler, as they’re just measuring out what assets they can carry into next season and are just playing out the string. The Yankees are trying to hold onto home field advantage in the wild card game, and Reid-Foley gave up eight runs, six earned, in his lone start against the Yankees. I’ll side with the team with something to play for and back New York on the run line in this spot.
