The New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox meet in the rubber match of their three game interleague set from Fenway Park in MLB action on Sunday.

The New York Mets will look to bounce back after having their four game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 loss in game two on Saturday. Brandon Nimmo’s three run homer accounted for all of the Mets’ scoring in the win, with Jeff McNeil adding a base hit as well as the Mets mustered up just two hits as a team with the rest of the squad going 0 for 23 with 9 strikeouts. Corey Oswalt threw 2.2 innings, allowing just an unearned run on three hits, not factoring in the decision, while Paul Sewald took the loss to fall to 0-5 this season. Jacob deGrom will start game three and is 8-9 with a 1.71 ERA and 239 strikeouts this season. This will be deGrom’s second career start against Boston.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox will look to win the series after taking game two on Saturday. Jackie Bradley Jr. and Brock Holt each had a double and two RBIs while Xander Bogaerts added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the BoSox in the win. Steve Pearce went 3 for 4 and Andrew Benintendi had a pair of hits while Ian Kinsler and Rafael Devers each added a base knock to cap off Boston’s offense in the win. Rick Porcello got the win to improve to 17-7 this season after allowing three runs on two hits while striking out five over five innings of work. Craig Kimbrel picked up the save to improve his save total to 41 this season. Chris Sale will start game three and is 12-4 with a 1.96 ERA and 221 strikeouts this season. This will be Sale’s second career start against the Mets.

New York is 5-2 in their last 7 road games and 5-11 in deGrom’s last 16 starts against a team with a winning record while the under is 9-2-1 in deGrom’s last 12 road starts. Boston is 4-0 in Sale’s last 4 home starts and 48-14 in their last 62 interleague games while the under is 3-1-1 in Sale’s last 5 starts overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Boston.

The plus money is tempting considering New York has their ace on the mound with an ERA well under two, however Boston has their best going as well and New York has had issues getting deGrom run support. With that said, even at 7.5, this total seems way too high for this pitching matchup. Yes, I understand both offenses have been playing well lately, but you have two aces who can easily trade zeroes (including deGrom who is on 25 straight starts with three runs or less allowed) and I see that happening on Sunday so I’ll side with the under here.
