Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

For Sunday’s matchup, the Twins will be sending out Kyle Gibson. In his 176.2 innings and 7-13 mark this year, Gibson has a 3.67 ERA with 163 Ks and 73 BBs.

Leading the way for the Twins offense this season is Eddie Rosario, who came into the weekend on 157 hits, 85 runs, 23 homers and 76 RBI. In game three, Rosario had one hit.

Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Jakob Junis on Sunday. Across 162.0 innings and an 8-12 record this season, Junis has a 4.28 ERA with 150 Ks and 40 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Royals is Whit Merrifield, who came into the weekend on 171 hits, 79 runs, 12 homers and 56 RBI. On Saturday, Merrifield had two hits and two runs.

The Twins are 4-0 in Gibson’s last four Sunday starts and 1-4 in Gibson’s last five road starts. Minnesota is 0-4 in Gibson’s last four starts and 2-6 in his last eight starts versus the AL Central.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 7-19 in their last 26 Sunday games and 3-7 in Junis’ last 10 home starts. KC is 5-12 in Junis’ last 17 starts and 4-1 in his last five starts versus a team with a losing record.

After a couple of rough starts, Gibson has been pretty good in his last pair with three earned in 12.2 innings—that said, he’s lost his last four outings. As for Junis, he’s got three straight quality starts with five earned total in those (and one complete game mixed in there). I’m going with Junis to stay hot here so I’ll take KC.
