The Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres meet Sunday in MLB action at Petco Park.
The Texas Rangers could use a win after losing six of their last nine games. The Rangers have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The Texas Rangers have won six of their last 10 games when scoring more than one run. Shin-Soo Choo leads the Rangers with 143 hits and 62 RBI while Jurickson Profar and Nomar Mazara have combined for 241 hits and 147 RBI. Mike Minor gets the ball, and he is 12-7 with a 4.19 ERA and 121 strikeouts this season. Minor is 2-3 with a 4.31 ERA and 20 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.

The San Diego Padres also need a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Padres have scored eight runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The San Diego Padres have lost six of their last seven games when scoring three or less runs. Eric Hosmer leads the Padres with 142 hits and 65 RBI while Freddy Galvis and Manuel Margot have combined for 235 hits and 104 RBI. Jacob Nix gets the ball, and he is 2-3 with a 6.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. This will be Nix’s first career game against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 18-38 in their last 56 Sunday games, 4-0 in Minors last 4 road starts and 6-1 in Minors last 7 starts. The Padres are 29-63 in their last 92 Sunday games, 5-16 in their last 21 during game 3 of a series and 7-20 in their last 27 home games. The Rangers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in San Diego, 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
Minor has been really good as of late, but he still has an ERA over five on the road with an allowed batting average of .266. Nix has been downright awful in his first career 30 innings, which includes allowing 20 runs, 34 hits and walking nine guys. The Rangers are probably the right play. However, I'm not laying juice with either of these clubs. I'd take the Padres if forced to pick based on the plus money, but there's much better options on Sunday's card, especially with the NFL going on.
