The Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros meet Monday in MLB action at Minute Maid Park.
The Seattle Mariners could use a victory here after splitting their last 12 games. The Mariners have scored 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Seattle Mariners have won four of their last five games when scoring more than three runs. Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 167 hits and 60 RBI while Mitch Haniger and Dee Gordon have combined for 298 hits and 119 RBI. Wade LeBlanc gets the ball, and he is 8-4 with a 3.56 ERA and 114 strikeouts this season. LeBlanc is 1-1 with a 6.32 ERA and 22 strikeouts in his career against the Astros.

The Houston Astros look to keep the ball rolling after winning 12 of their last 14 games. The Astros have scored 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 12 of their last 14 games. The Houston Astros have won 19 of their last 21 games when scoring more than two runs. Alex Bregman leads the Astros with 163 hits and 100 RBI while Jose Altuve and George Springer have combined for 295 hits and 120 RBI. Framber Valdez gets the ball, and he is 3-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. This will be Valdez’s second career game against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 20-8 in their last 28 Monday games, 4-0 in LeBlancs last 4 road starts and 20-9 in LeBlancs last 29 starts. The Astros are 4-1 in their last 5 Monday games, 5-2 in their last 7 during game 1 of a series and 6-1 in their last 7 home games. The Mariners are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Houston and 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Houston Astros are the hottest team in baseball right now and nobody has faded the Seattle Mariners in the second half more than me. However, in terms of value, the Mariners and the plus money is probably worth a shot. LeBlanc has allowed just three unearned runs in his last 24 innings and has an impressive 3.49 ERA on the road. Valdez has just 23.2 career innings under his belt and is fresh off a game against the Detroit Tigers in which he allowed four runs in four innings. Yes, the Astros are winning at an insane clip, but a guy with less than 30 career innings shouldn't be this big of a favorite against a guy who has been pitching at an all-star level. I'll take the M's and the big plus money.
