The Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in game one of a three game NL West division set from Dodger Stadium in MLB action on Monday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to build some momentum after avoiding the sweep at the hands of San Francisco following a 3-2 win in the series finale on Sunday. Antonio Senzatela started the game on the mound and helped his own cause with two RBIs, while DJ LeMahieu added an RBI of his own to round out Colorado’s scoring in the win. Ian Desmond went 2 for 4 and Charlie Blackmon added a double while David Dahl, Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra each added a base knock in the victory. Senzatela got the win on the mound after giving up just one run on five hits while striking out five over five innings of work to improve to 5-6 while Wade Davis struck out a pair in the 9th for his 40th save of the year. Jon Gray will start game one and is 11-7 with a 4.80 ERA and 174 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 3-3 with a 3.83 ERA and 58 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to bounce back after having their winning streak snapped and failing to complete the sweep of the Cardinals with a 5-0 loss in the series finale on Sunday night. Justin Turner went 2 for 4 with a double while Joc Pederson and Cody Bellinger each had a base knock as the Dodgers cranked out just four hits as a team in the losing effort. Ross Stripling took the loss, falling to 8-4 this season after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five over 3.1 innings of work. Hyun-Jin Ryu will start game one and is 4-3 with a 2.42 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season. In his career, Ryu is 3-6 with a 5.77 ERA and 44 strikeouts against Colorado.

Colorado is 11-2 in Gray’s last 13 starts and 13-6 in their last 19 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Los Angeles is 4-15 in Ryu’s last 19 starts against a team with a winning record and 0-5 in their last 5 Monday games while the under is 7-2 in Ryu’s last 9 home starts. Los Angeles is 0-4 in Ryu’s last 4 starts against Colorado and Colorado is 5-2 in Gray’s last 7 starts against the Dodgers.

This series is for all intents and purposes for the division as these three games will go a long way towards the playoff picture. With that said, Gray has struggled against the Dodgers this season, giving up six runs in just under 10 innings of work. However, the Rockies have also won 11 of Gray’s last 13 starts. Ryu has pitched well, but the Dodgers have struggled with him on the mound against above average opposition, dropping 15 of his last 19 starts against teams with a winning record. Add in the quick turnaround and travel for the Dodgers and I think the Rockies are worth a play at plus money on Monday night.
