The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians meet in game one of a three game AL Central division set from Progressive Field in MLB action on Tuesday.
The Chicago White Sox will look to bounce back after failing to complete the sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with an 8-4 loss in the series finale on Sunday. All of Chicago’s scoring came via the home run as Daniel Palka belted a pair of solo home runs while Yolmer Sanchez added a two-run home run. Welington Castillo and Adam Engel each went 2 for 4 while Matt Davidson and Nicky Delmonico each added a base knock to round out the White Sox’ offense in the losing effort. Lucas Giolito took the loss, falling to 10-11 this season after allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits over six innings of work. Carlos Rodon will start game one and is 6-5 with a 3.10 ERA and 84 strikeouts this season.in his career, Rodon is 4-2 with a 2.44 ERA and 78 strikeouts against Cleveland.

The Cleveland Indians will look to bounce back after dropping six of their last nine games following a 6-4 loss to Detroit in their last outing. Yandy Diaz went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Eric Haase, Erik Gonzalez and Adam Rosales each had an RBI as well to round out the Tribe’s scoring in the loss. Greg Allen added a double of his own while Brandon Barnes added a base knock to cap off Cleveland’s offense in the defeat. Shane Bieber took the loss, falling to 10-4 this season after allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four over six innings of work. Corey Kluber will start game one and is 18-7 with a 2.91 ERA and 194 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kluber is 11-4 with a 2.90 ERA and 162 strikeouts against the White Sox.
Chicago is 5-0 in Rodon’s last 5 road starts and 3-8 in their last 11 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Cleveland is 25-6 in Kluber’s last 31 division starts and 0-4 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 4-1 in Kluber’s last 5 home starts. Cleveland is 8-1 in Kluber’s last 9 starts against the White Sox and 4-1 in Kluber’s last 5 starts at home against Chicago.
You have a Cleveland squad that’s already clinched their division and Kluber has been hittable lately, so the plus money could be worth a look. However, I just can’t back the White Sox with any sort of confidence as it wouldn’t surprise me if the Indians won here. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. Both starters have an ERA under three against the opposition this season, including 13 shutout innings from Kluber against the White Sox here. I just don’t see this game being high-scoring so the under is the play for me.
