The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees meet in game one of a three game set from Yankee Stadium in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Boston Red Sox will look to keep their momentum going after winning six of seven and their series with the Mets, including a 4-3 win in game three on Sunday. Brock Holt led the charge by going 1 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs while Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi each had an RBI to round out Boston’s scoring in the win. Tzu-Wei Lin and Steve Pearce each had a double while Jackie Bradley Jr., Rafael Devers and Christian Vazquez each had a base hit in the winning effort. Chris Sale threw three scoreless innings, but was pulled for rest. Brandon Workman got the win to improve to 6-0 while Steven Wright notched his 1st save of the season. Nathan Eovaldi will start game one and is 5-7 with a 4.22 ERA and 82 strikeouts this season. In his career, Eovaldi is 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 9 strikeouts against the Yankees.

New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox - 9/18/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Yankees will look to bounce back after losing five of their last seven games, including the rubber match of their series with Toronto in a 3-2 loss on Sunday. Andrew McCutchen had a solo home run while Didi Gregorius added an RBI to round out the Yankees’ scoring in the loss. Giancarlo Stanton went 2 for 3 while Aaron Hicks and Gleyber Torres each added a base hit as well to cap off New York’s offense in defeat. Lance Lynn allowed one run on three hits over five innings of work while striking out seven. Dellin Betances took the loss, falling to 4-6 this season. J.A. Happ will start the opener and is 16-6 with a 3.75 ERA and 173 strikeouts this season. In his career, Happ is 7-4 with a 2.98 ERA and 82 strikeouts against Boston.

Boston is 1-4 in Eovaldi’s last 5 starts and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while the under is 4-0-2 in their last 6 games overall. New York is 7-1 in Happ’s last 8 starts and 8-2 in their last 10 division matchups while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. Boston is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in New York.

Eovaldi started off well in joining the Red Sox, but after throwing 15 shutout innings in his first two starts, Eovaldi has allowed three or more runs in four of his last six starts, spanning 22.1 innings allowing 24 runs, 19 earned, for a 7.66 ERA over that timeframe. Happ is 5-0 in eight starts since joining the Yankees, with New York winning seven of his eight starts since the trade. All in all, the Yankees have more to play for as they’re trying to get positioning and home field in the wild card game, while the Red Sox pretty much have the division locked up, so I’ll lay the juice with the Yankees in this spot.
