The Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore Orioles meet up for the finale of their three game set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Wednesday.
The Toronto Blue Jays will look to complete the sweep after taking game two by a final score of 6-4 on Tuesday. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two RBIs while Justin Smoak and Dwight Smith Jr. each had an RBI with Smith Jr. adding a double as well. Aledmys Diaz went 2 for 4 with a double while Billy McKinney, Rowdy Tellez, Jonathan Davis and Devon Travis each had an RBI to round out Toronto’s offense in the win. Aaron Sanchez allowed all four runs, two earned, on four hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jake Petricka got the win to improve to 3-1 while Ken Giles picked up his 23rd save by closing out the 9th. Sam Gaviglio will start game three and is 3-8 with a 5.25 ERA and 97 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gaviglio is 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA and 17 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to avoid the sweep after dropping game two on Tuesday. Cedric Mullins hit a solo home run while Breyvic Valera added an RBI and Adam Jones and Trey Mancini each went 2 for 4 with Mancini adding a triple to the cause. DJ Stewart added a base hit to cap off Baltimore’s offense in defeat. Dylan Bundy allowed five runs, two earned, while striking out six over 6.2 innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 8-15 this season. Luis Ortiz will start the finale and is 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA this season. This will be Ortiz’s first career start against Toronto.
Toronto is 1-8 in Gaviglio’s last 9 starts and 7-21 in their last 28 Wednesday games while the over is 38-18-1 in their last 57 games on grass. Baltimore is 13-40 in their last 53 division matchups and 16-38 in their last 54 home games while the over is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games. Toronto is 12-3 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.
The Blue Jays are having more success between these two teams lately, but the Jays have also lost eight of Gaviglio’s last nine trips to the mound. On the other hand, I’m not backing a Baltimore team that’s on their way to 110 losses if not more, so instead, I’ll side with the over as I see this one hitting double digits like it did on Tuesday.
