The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies will be wrapping up their MLB set from Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday.

The Mets took the Monday opener in this set 9-4, then on Tuesday the Phillies scored all their runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 5-2 victory.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

For Wednesday’s matchup, the Mets will be sending out RHP Noah Syndergaard. In his 135.1 innings and 12-3 mark this year, Syndergaard has a 3.26 ERA with 138 Ks and 34 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Mets is Amed Rosario, who came into Tuesday on 130 hits, 72 runs and 49 RBI. In game two, Rosario came up empty.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re going with Zach Eflin on Wednesday. Across 120.1 innings and a 10-7 mark this year, Eflin has a 4.26 ERA with 111 Ks and 31 BBs.

Heading into game two, Cesar Hernandez led the way for the Phillies with 143 hits, 86 runs, 13 homers and 54 RBI. On Tuesday, Hernandez had one hit.

The Mets are 5-1 in their last six in game three of a series and 4-1 in Syndergaard’s last five starts in game three of a series. New York is 4-1 in Syndergaard’s last five starts and 7-2 in his last nine Wednesday starts.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 0-5 in their last five in game three of a series and 2-7 in Eflin’s last nine starts with four days’ rest. Philly is 1-4 in Eflin’s last five starts and 1-5 in his last six Wednesday starts.

It’s been a mixed bag for Syndergaard over his last four starts, as he has two great ones (one earned in 16.0 innings) and two “blah” ones (eight earned in 12.2 innings) in that time. Eflin has been pretty inconsistent lately as well, but did go 6.1 innings with one earned his last time out. All things considered, I trust Syndergaard a little more right now and he should help the Mets get a win if the offense and bullpen show up.
