For the Wednesday game, the Dodgers will be sending out RHP Ross Stripling. In his 120.1 innings and 8-5 record this year, Stripling has a 2.84 ERA with 134 Ks and 20 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Dodgers is Manny Machado, who had 180 hits, 82 runs, 37 homers and 104 RBI coming into Tuesday. In game two, Machado had one hit.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re going with Zack Greinke on Wednesday. Across his 201.2 innings and 3.21 ERA this year, Greinke has got a 14.11 record with 193 Ks and 41 BBs.
Leading the way for the Diamondbacks hitters is Paul Goldschmidt, who came into Tuesday on 169 hits, 94 runs, 33 homers and 83 RBI. In game two, Goldschmidt came up empty.
The Dodgers are 37-15 in their last 52 in game three of a series and 6-2 in Stripling’s last eight starts with four days’ rest. LA is 5-2 in Stripling’s last seven road starts and 12-5 in his last 17 starts.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 1-5 in the last six in game three of a series. Arizona is 1-4 in Greinke’s last five home starts and 1-4 in his last five starts.
Stripling has had a sketchy run of games lately. In his last four starts, he’s allowed seven earned but has gone just 3.1 innings in each of his last three. As for Greinke he’s been okay but not super-dominant, giving up 14 earned across his last four outings. This is a tough one to pick but I’ll go with Greinke and the D-Backs.
