The Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals meet in the finale of their three game set from Busch Stadium in MLB action on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to complete the sweep after taking game two on Wednesday by a 12-4 count. Christian Yelich led the charge, going 2 for 6 with a home run, a triple and six RBIS. Ryan Braun added a pair of homers with three RBIs while Manny Pina, Gio Gonzalez and Jesus Aguilar each added an RBI to round out Milwaukee’s scoring, with Aguilar hitting a solo shot. Mike Moustakas and Orlando Arcia each added a double, while Hernan Perez, Jonathan Schoop and Lorenzo Cain each added a base hit to cap off the Brew Crew’s offense in the win. Gonzalez allowed three runs on three hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision, while Taylor Williams picked up the win to improve to 1-3 this season. Jhoulys Chacin will start game three and is 14-8 with a 3.61 ERA and 150 strikeouts this season. In his career, Chacin is 1-7 with a 6.10 ERA and 41 strikeouts against St. Louis.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to pick up a win and avoid the sweep after their loss in game two on Tuesday. Yadier Molina belted a home run for his lone hit with three RBIs, while Paul DeJong added an RBI as well to finish off St. Louis’ scoring in the loss. Marcell Ozuna went 3 for 3 and Jose Martinez had a double while going 2 for 4 while Patrick Wisdom and Greg Garcia each had a base knock to cap off St. Louis’ offense in defeat. Austin Gomber took the loss, falling to 6-2 on the year after allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out six over just 3.2 innings of work. John Gant will start the finale and is 7-6 with a 3.53 ERA and 93 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gant is 0-2 with a 4.73 ERA and 7 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is 1-4 in Chacin’s last 5 division starts and 5-1 in their last 6 games overall while the under is 4-1 in Chacin’s last 5 road starts. St. Louis is 4-1 in Gant’s last 5 starts and 11-5 in their last 16 game 3 matchups while the over is 8-0 in their last 8 games overall. Milwaukee is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams in St. Louis.

Usually if I see Chacin and the Brewers with a low line or plus money, I take it as the guy has been awesome for the Brewers this season. However, while he shut out the Cards in his last start against them a few weeks ago, Chacin has had no luck otherwise against the Cardinals, allowing a total of 17 runs, 14 earned, in 14.2 innings against the Cards this season when you take away the six innings from the previously mentioned start. Gant isn’t the ace guy you’d like to have in this situation, but St. Louis needs a win and I think they get it against a pitcher that they’ve had the number of over the years so I’ll take St. Louis to salvage a win on Wednesday.
