For the Wednesday game, the Marlins will be sending out lefty Wei-Yin Chen. In his 129.1 innings and 6-11 record this year, Chen has a 4.66 ERA with 110 Ks and 44 BBs.
Leading the way for the Marlins this year is Starlin Castro, who came into Tuesday on 162 hits, 76 runs, 12 homers and 54 RBI. In game two, Castro sat out and Peter O’Brien hit a two-run shot.
Over on the Nats’ side, they’re going with Tanner Roark on Wednesday. Across his 180.1 innings and 9-15 record this year, Roark has a 4.34 ERA with 146 Ks and 50 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Nats is Trea Turner, who came into game two on 175 hits, 101 runs, 18 homers and 68 RBI. On Tuesday, Turner whiffed 0-for-5.
The Marlins are 5-2 in their last seven in game three of a series and 1-5 in Chen’s last six road starts. Miami is 1-5 in Chen’s last six starts in game three of a series and 1-5 in his last six Wednesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 4-0 in their last four in game three of a series and 5-0 in Roark’s last five starts with nine or more days’ rest. Washington is 8-3 in Roark’s last 11 starts and 2-5 in his last seven Wednesday starts.
Chen had a couple of bad games going this month, with eight earned in 8.0 frames combined, but he did well in his last outing with zero earned on three hits in 7.0 innings. As for Roark, he’s in the same boat with 11 earned over 9.2 innings in two games and 5.1 with two earned his last time up. I’m going to go with Chen to keep it going here so I’ll take Miami on a value pick.
