The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants meet in game two of their three game NL West division set from AT&T Park in MLB action on Saturday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on their series opening win over San Fran by a final score of 3-1 on Friday. Justin Turner had a two run home run while Manny Machado added an RBI to round out the Dodgers’ scoring in the win. Yasmani Grandal went 2 for 4 with a double and Enrique Hernandez went 3 for 4 while David Freese and Cody Bellinger each had a base hit to cap off L.A.’s offense in the win. Hyun-Jin Ryu got the win to improve to 7-3 this season, allowing one run on four hits over six innings of work. Clayton Kershaw will start game two and is 9-5 with a 2.53 ERA and 151 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kershaw is 22-10 with a 1.58 ERA and 329 strikeouts against San Francisco.

The San Francisco Giants will look to bounce back after dropping the opener of the series on Friday. Nick Hundley’s solo home run accounted for the lone Giants’ run in the loss, while Aramis Garcia and Joe Panik each had two hits. Brandon Crawford had a base hit as well as the Giants mustered up just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Madison Bumgarner took the loss, falling to 6-7 this season after allowing all three runs on seven hits while striking out six over six innings of work. Dereck Rodriguez will start game two and is 6-4 with a 2.50 ERA and 88 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodriguez’s first career start against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 52-12 in Kershaw’s last 64 division starts and 37-16 in Kershaw’s last 53 road starts while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games 2 matchups. San Francisco is 0-6 in Rodriguez’s last 6 starts and 2-10 in their last 12 Saturday games while the under is 6-0 in Rodriguez’s last 6 division starts. Los Angeles is 11-4 in Kershaw’s last 15 starts against San Francisco and 4-0 in Kershaw’s last 4 road starts against the Giants.
The plus money at home with San Fran is tempting considering that Rodriguez has pitched well this season. However, the Giants have lost Rodriguez’s last six starts and the Dodgers simply need this game to still have a chance at the division title, and have their ace on the mound who has a ridiculous 1.58 ERA over 44 career games against the Giants, including just three runs allowed in 21 innings against San Francisco this season. The price is steep, so I’ll side with Los Angeles on the run line to get some extra value out of the bet.
