The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves meet in game three of the NLDS from SunTrust Park in MLB action on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to complete the sweep after taking game two on Friday by a final score of 3-0. All of L.A.’s scoring was done with the long ball, as Manny Machado hit a two run home run to open the scoring and Yasmani Grandal added a solo shot for insurance in the 5th. Joe Pederson, Justin Turner and Yasiel Puig each chipped in a base hit to cap off the Dodgers’ offense in the win. Clayton Kershaw threw a gem in this one, getting the win after eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three. Kenley Jansen closed out the 9th for the save. Walker Buehler will start game three and was 7-5 with a 2.76 ERA and 148 strikeouts in the regular season. This will be Buehler’s second career start against Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves will look to climb back into the series and avoid the sweep after the loss on Friday. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 2 for 4 with a double while Ender Inciarte added a base hit as the Braves mustered up just three hits as a team in the loss, with the rest of the Braves going 0 for 22 with 3 strikeouts in the defeat. Anibal Sanchez ended up with the loss, giving up all three runs on five hits over 4.2 innings of work. Kevin Gausman will start game three and was 10-11 with a 3.92 ERA and 148 strikeouts in the regular season. This will be Gausman’s second career start against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 7-0 in their last 7 NLDS games and 8-3 in their last 11 road games while the under is 5-0-1 in Buehler’s last 6 starts overall. Atlanta is 2-11 in their last 13 home games against a team with a winning road record and 7-20 in their last 27 playoff games while the over is 4-0 in Gausman’s last 4 starts against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta.
The plus money is tempting with Atlanta considering they’re at home and due for an offensive breakout after being shutout in back-to-back postseason games for the first time in franchise postseason history. However, Buehler threw shutouts in three of his last four starts of the season, including the NL tiebreaker against Colorado and the Dodgers have won seven straight NLDS games as a team. It’s hard not to back the Dodgers here being the first team in almost 100 years with two shutouts to start a postseason, so while I’m not a fan of laying juice on the road, L.A. for the sweep sees like the logical pick here.
