The Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians meet Monday in game three of the MLB ALDS at Progressive Field.
The Houston Astros look to make back-to-back ALCS appearances by completing the sweep here. The Astros pitching continues to shine, as they’ve allowed a combined three runs and struck out 24 batters in the first two games. Allowing four or less runs in each of their last 10 games, the Astros are going to be nearly unbeatable if the pitching continues to hold up. The Houston Astros have won 23 of their last 27 games when allowing five or less runs. Marwin Gonzalez leads the Astros with five hits and two RBI while George Springer and Josh Reddick have combined for six hits and three RBI. Dallas Keuchel gets the ball, and he is 12-11 with a 3.74 ERA and 153 strikeouts this season. Keuchel is 4-1 with a 2.79 ERA and 38 strikeouts in his career against the Indians. Keuchel is 4-2 with a 3.24 ERA and 46 strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Cleveland Indians need a victory here to save their season and force a game four on Tuesday. The Indians need their offense to simply wake up, as they’ve now been held to two or less runs in four of their last six games and have lost six of their last nine games when scoring four or less runs. The good news is that the Cleveland Indians play their first home game since September 23, so maybe sleeping in their own bed for once can help this club get back on track. Francisco Lindor leads the Indians with two hits and one RBI while Edwin Encarnacion and Michael Brantley have combined for two hits and four strikeouts. Mike Clevinger gets the ball, and he is 13-8 with a 3.02 ERA and 207 strikeouts this season. Clevinger is 1-3 with a 3.98 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his career against the Astros. Clevinger is 0-0 with a 6.43 ERA and six strikeouts in his postseason career.
The Astros are 5-1 in their last 6 games following an off day, 38-13 in their last 51 road games and 9-2 in Keuchels last 11 road starts. The Indians are 6-1 in their last 7 Divisional Playoff home games, 6-0 in Clevingers last 6 home starts and 5-1 in Clevingers last 6 starts. The Astros are 7-15 in the last 22 meetings in Cleveland, 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Cleveland Indians are too good of a team and are led by a great postseason coach to not go down without a fight. Clevinger has a 2.12 ERA in his last 29.2 innings and has allowed two or less runs in eight of his last 10 starts. Keuchel is obviously a great pitcher in his own right, but he has an ERA of 4.65 in his last 31 innings and is allowing a .273 batting average on the road. The Astros are winning with Keuchel on the mound, but he hasn't been the same pitcher this year that he's been in the past. The Houston Astros are the better team, but we're getting the hotter pitcher, at home for a cheap price. I'll take the Indians to avoid the sweep.
