The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros continue the ALCS in Wednesday MLB action.

The Boston Red Sox late offensive burst and stellar work on the mound led to an 8-2 rout of Houston and a 2-1 lead in the ALCS. Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi gave up a pair of runs on six hits and to BB over six innings with four relievers tossing shutout baseball.

The Red Sox banged out nine hits and walked three times with Jackie Bradley Jr. clubbing an 8th inning grand slam that broke open a competitive contest while Steve Pearce went solo and scored twice.

Rick Porcello draws the game four starting assignment against the Astros on Wednesday. Porcello defeated the Yankees 4-3 in the ALDS with a run plated through five innings.

The Houston Astros struggled at the plates and the bullpen imploded in Tuesday’s ALCS defeat. Houston starter Dallas Keuchel allowed a pair of runs through 4.2 frames with Joe Smith serving up a solo homer before Roberto Osuna loaded the bases in the 8th and surrendered a grand slam.

The Astros offense consisted of seven hits and three bases on balls with Alex Bregman gong 2-3 with an RBI while Marwin Gonzalez smacking and RBI single followed by Jose Altuve with a pair of singles and two runs.

The Astros send right hander Charlie Morton to the hill to face Boston in his first postseason appearance in 2018. Morton is 15-3 with a 1.16 Whip and 3.13 ERA over 30 starts.

Over is 8-1 in Boston last 9 Wednesday games and over is 13-3-1 in Boston last 17 overall and over is 13-3-1 in Boston last 17 on grass. Over is 7-1 in Houston last 8 Wednesday games and Houston are 13-3 in their last 16 home games and Houston are 19-7 in their last 26 playoff home games. Over is 35-16-1 in the last 52 meetings.

I think this is a game that the Astros have to win and hopefully the defending champs put everything together…
