The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians will meet up to kick off their MLB series on Monday.
Chicago just finished up a set versus the Braves. After falling 10-7 and 11-5 in the first two games, on Sunday the White Sox fell 5-3.
For Monday’s game, the Sox will send out Ross Detwiler for the start. In his 51.2 innings and 2-4 mark so far, Detwiler has a 6.45 ERA with 40 Ks and 16 BBs.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re coming off a series against the Rays. Cleveland also fell in their first two games 4-0 and 9-6. In the Sunday finale, the Indians dropped 8-2.
For Monday’s outing, Cleveland will go with Aaron Civale in the start. Across 36.2 innings and a 2-3 record this year, Civale has a 1.96 ERA, 30 Ks and six walks.
The White Sox are 9-4 in their last 13 Monday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game one of a series. The over is 4-1-1 in Chicago’s last six Monday games and 4-1-1 in Detwiler’s last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 4-1 in their last five Monday games and 18-7 in their last 25 in game one of a series. The over is 5-2 in Cleveland’s last seven in game one of a series and 9-4 in their last 13 Monday games.
Detwiler has run into some trouble over his last couple of appearances. In 4.1 innings, he’s given up eight earned on seven hits. In his last five games Detwiler has given up at least three earned in four of them.
As for Civale, he took a coupe of losses last month but overall has pitched well and got a victory his last time up. I like Civale to stay strong here and help the Indians get a win.
