The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals will meet up on Tuesday to begin their MLB series.
The Tigers are coming out of a series against the Twins. Detroit managed a win Saturday but lost Friday and Sunday. In the Monday finale, the Tigers fell in a tough one 4-3.
For Tuesday’s game, the Tigers will send out Daniel Norris in the start. Across a 3-11 record so far, Norris has a 4.66 ERA with 111 strikeouts.
Over on the Royals’ side, they played the Orioles over the weekend. Kansas City fell in the Friday game but came back to win the series with victories Saturday 7-5 and Sunday 6-4.
In Tuesday’s matchup, the Royals will go with Mike Montgomery in the start. Over 67.2 innings and a 3-7 record this year, Montgomery has a 4.66 ERA with 54 Ks and 24 BBs.
The Tigers are 17-37 in their last 54 Tuesday games and 8-25 in their last 33 in game one of a series. The over is 3-0-1 in Detroit’s last four Tuesday games and 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games and 2-9 in their last 11 in game one of a series. KC is 2-6 in Montgomery’s last eight starts and 2-6 in his last eight on grass.
Montgomery had a rough outing in Baltimore last month, but aside from that he’s been solid over his last quartet, with the other three being quality starts.
As for Norris, he’ll probably run around three innings here as an opener and should be okay. That said, I’m leaning toward the at-home Royals and Montgomery here.
