The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians will match up to finish their MLB series Thursday.
The two teams split the first pair of games in this set, with Cleveland winning 11-3 Monday and the Sox taking one 6-3 Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Indians got another one 8-6, fending off some late-inning scoring by the Sox.
For the Thursday game, the Sox will send out Raynaldo Lopez in the start. Over his 153.0 innings and 8-12 mark so far, Lopez has a 5.41 ERA with 138 Ks and 57 BBs.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Zach Plesac in the start Thursday. Over 92.1 innings and a 7-5 record, Plesac has a 3.61 ERA with 70 Ks and 33 BBs.
The Sox are 1-6 in the last seven Thursday games and 3-7 in Lopez’s last 10 starts on grass. The over is 5-0 in Lopez’s last five Thursday starts and 5-0 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 57-26 in their last 83 Thursday games and 23-11 in their last 34 in game four of a series. Cleveland is 7-0 in Plesac’s last seven home starts and 8-2 in his last 10 starts.
Lopez had a couple of solid consecutive starts going last month, but faltered his last time out on six earned from six hits in 0.2 innings in Atlanta. He’s 1-3 in his last four starts.
As for Plesac, he’s been okay but not super-dominant over his last three with nine earned in 15.1 innings of work. I’m not super high on either one of these guys right now, but I’m leaning toward the Indians here since they’ve been playing well behind Plesac.
