The Milwaukee Brewers and the Miami Marlins will continue their MLB series on Wednesday.
In the Monday opener of this set, the Brewers powered out an 8-3 win. On Tuesday, Milwaukee managed three runs in the first three innings, breaking a 3-3 tie in the ninth on the way to a 4-3 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Brewers will go with Zach Davies in the start. Over 141.1 innings and a 9-7 record Davies has a 3.69 ERA with 91 Ks and 46 BBs.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re sending out Pablo Lopez on Wednesday. Across 91.0 innings and a 5-8 record this year, Lopez has a 4.75 ERA with 83 Ks and 19 BBs.
The Brewers are 7-0 in their last seven Wednesday games and 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series. Milwaukee is 2-5 in Davies’ last seven starts and 7-3 in his last 10 Wednesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 7-19 in their last 26 Wednesday games and 7-19 in Lopez’s last 26 starts. Miami is 4-10 in Lopez’s last 14 home starts and 1-9 in his last 10 starts with four days’ rest.
Davies has been doing well over his last two starts since the five-game losing streak. In that stretch he’s put up one earned in 9.2 innings and is 1-0.
As for Lopez, he’s lost his last three straight and gotten zero run support in either of his last two outings. I’m going to stick with Davies and the Brewers here.
