The Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks meet Sunday in MLB action at Chase Field.
The Cincinnati Reds look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Reds have scored 15 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The Cincinnati Reds have won six of their last seven games when scoring four or more runs. Eugenio Suarez leads the Reds with 142 hits and 98 RBI while Jose Iglesias and Joey Votto have combined for 265 hits and 99 RBI. Trevor Bauer gets the ball, and he is 10-12 with a 4.55 ERA and 236 strikeouts this season. Bauer is 0-1 with a 3.95 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks look for a win after losing six of their last seven games. The Diamondbacks have scored five runs in their last three games and three or less runs in eight straight games. The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost seven of their last 10 games when scoring three or less runs. Ketel Marte leads the Diamondbacks with 182 hits and 91 RBI while Eduardo Escobar and Nick Ahmed have combined for 291 hits and 193 RBI. Zac Gallen gets the ball, and he is 3-5 with a 2.66 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. This will be Gallen’s first career game against the Reds.
The Reds are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 8-19 in their last 27 Sunday games and 1-5 in Bauer’s last 6 starts. The Diamondbacks are 9-20 in their last 29 Sunday games, 4-0 in Gallen’s last 4 home starts and 5-2 in Gallen’s last 7 starts. The under is 33-16-3 in the last 52 meetings in Arizona and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. The under is 6-0-1 in Gallen’s last 7 starts overall. The over is 4-1 in Bauer’s last 5 road starts.
Bauer has allowed 47 hits and 34 earned runs in his 41.1 innings since coming over from the Cleveland Indians. Gallen has allowed 32 hits and 11 runs in his 38 innings since coming over from the Miami Marlins. Gallen has been one of the best kept secrets for us these last couple of months, as we’ve backed him a lot and he continues to be money. At just 24 years old, Gallen has the potential to be a key piece in this Arizona rotation if he keeps this up. The books are starting to catch on and we’re not getting the same prices as before, but I’ll still take the Diamondbacks anyway. Gallen has been consistent and goes deep into games.
