The Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays will wrap up their MLB series on Monday.
The Rays took the first two games of this set, 5-4 Friday and 5-4 Saturday. In the Sunday game, Boston got a bit of revenge with a 7-4 win.
For Monday’s outing, Boston will go with Jhoulys Chacin in the start. Across his 97.0 innings and 3-11 mark so far, Chacin has a 5.66 ERA with 93 Ks and 44 BBs.
Over on the Rays’ side, they’re sending out Blake Snell on Monday. Over 103.0 innings and a 6-7 record this year, Snell has a 4.19 ERA with 140 Ks and 35 BBs.
The Red Sox are 5-2 in their last seven Monday games and 0-4 in their last four in game four of a series. The over is 5-1 in Boston’s last six Monday games and the under is 5-1 in their last six versus a lefty starter.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 4-1 in Snell’s last five starts and 21-6 in his last 27 home starts. Tampa is 20-7 in Snell’s last 27 starts with five days’ rest and 13-5 in his last 18 versus a team with a winning record.
Chacin had a pretty good span of three outings going, but stumbled his last time up with four earned on five hits in 2.2 innings. As for Snell, he’s 2-0 over his last five starts and has given up just four earned runs in that time. I have to stick with the Rays here.
