The Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox will kick off their MLB series on Friday.
The Orioles are coming out of a series versus the Blue Jays. Baltimore won the Tuesday game of that set but fell Monday 11-10 and Wednesday 3-2.
For the Friday game, the Orioles will send out Asher Wojciechowski to start. Over 76.1 innings and a 3-8 record so far, Wojciechowski has a 5.31 ERA with 74 Ks and 27 BBs.
Over on the Sox’ side, they just finished up against the Rangers. The Sox took the first two games of that series 12-10 and 10-3, then on Thursday Boston fell 7-5.
For Friday’s game, Boston will roll out Nathan Eovaldi in the start. Eovaldi is 2-0 this year with a 6.03 ERA and 67 Ks.
The Orioles are 20-46 in their last 66 Friday games and 103-241 in their last 344 overall. Baltimore is 2-5 in Wojciechowski’s last seven road starts and 1-6 in his last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 5-1 in their last six Friday games and 2-8 in their last 10 versus the AL East. The over is 4-0-1 in Boston’s last five versus the AL East and 9-4 in their last 13 Friday games.
Wojciechowski had a few spotty starts earlier this month (13 earned in 13.0 innings) but over his last pair he’s been pretty solid. In that time he’s given up four earned across 9.1 innings of work and is 1-0.
Still, Boston is the better team and at home—even at this point in the season—I have to go Sox.
