The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox will meet up on the MLB diamond Sunday to finish off their series.
In the Saturday doubleheader of this set, Detroit managed a win 4-3 and Chicago got a victory 7-1.
For Sunday’s game, the Tigers will send out Spencer Turnbull. In his 143.0 innings and 3-16 mark so far, Turnbull has a 4.59 ERA with 139 Ks and 58 BBs.
Over on the White Sox’ side, they’re going with Ross Detwiler in the start Sunday.
The Tigers are 18-41 in the last 59 Sunday games and 15-37 in their last 52 in game three of a series. Detroit is 6-21 in Turnbull’s last 27 starts an 1-4 in his last five Sunday starts.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 in game three of a series and 3-8 in their last 11 Sunday games. The under is 3-1-1 in Chicago’s last five Sunday games as well.
Turnbull had a pretty ugly run of five games last month, with 23 earned runs in that span. He’s been better over his last pair, with three earned in 11.0 innings, but he’s still looking for another elusive victory.
Turnbull should pitch fairly well here but I don’t think it’ll be enough. I’m going White Sox.
