The Kiwoom Heroes and SK Wyverns meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO preseason baseball action.
The Kiwoom Heroes are 0-2 in preseason play and have lost their last six games overall dating back to the October playoffs. The Kiwoom Heroes are coming off a 5-0 shutout loss to the Doosan Bears and have been outscored 11-3 in their first two preseason. In the losing effort, Kim Ha-seong and Lee Taek-keun combined for the teams only three hits while Yoon Jung-hyun allowed three runs and four hits in two innings pitched. The Kiwoom Heroes need something positive to break their way to get the juices flowing, but their last effort doesn’t provide much confidence moving forward.
The SK Wyverns are coming off a 4-3 win yesterday over the LG Twins, and they’re now 2-0 in this preseason. The SK Wyverns have outscored their first two opponents 10-6 in the first two contests. In their most recent effort, Choi Jeong and Jamie Romak combined for four hits and one RBI while Nick Kingham pitched four shutout innings with four strikeouts. The SK Wyverns have hot bats coming out of the gate and the pitching staff has stood tall, making them one of the more impressive teams in preseason action up to this point.
The Kiwoom Heroes have won six of the last seven meetings against the SK Wyverns, but that one loss did take place earlier this week. The SK Wyverns won the meeting 6-3 back on Tuesday, making it their first win over the Kiwoom Heroes since August of 2019. The last two games between these teams have produced a combined 20 runs.
We’re getting a red hot SK Wyverns team and the plus money, but it’s also worth being noted that the Kiwoom Heroes shouldn’t be held down for long and they have a rest advantage. Still, I’m leaning toward the over in this contest, as games tend to be high scoring when these clubs meet and the last two meetings have been no different. The last three games between the Kiwoom Heroes and SK Wyverns are averaging 11.6 runs per game.
Give me the over nine runs.
