The KIA Tigers and NC Dinos meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO preseason baseball action.
The KIA Tigers are 0-1-1 in preseason play up to this point and are coming off a 6-6 draw against the Hanwha Eagles where they were outscored 3-0 in the final two innings. In the disappointing effort, Choi Won-joon and Yoo Min-sang combined for six hits and three RBI while Lee Min-woo allowed four hits and walked five batters in 5.2 innings. The KIA Tigers have now given up 10 runs in their first two games and they can’t be thrilled after having a 6-3 lead heading into the eighth inning of their last contest. The offense is there, but the KIA Tigers need to get their pitching in order to start seeing some positive results.
The NC Dinos are in downright terrible form right now and have lost their first two preseason games by a a combined score of 19-3. The NC Dinos are coming off a 11-3 loss to the Lotte Giants, a game in which they allowed all 11 runs in two innings. In the losing effort, Kim Sung-wook and No Jin-hyuk combined for two hits and two RBI while Drew Rucinski allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings. The NC Dinos haven’t won a game since late September and the lack of bright spots on either side through two games doesn’t provide much confidence moving forward.
The KIA Tigers have won four of the last five meetings against the NC Dinos and four of those five meetings have produced seven or less total runs. The KIA Tigers have outscored the NC Dinos 11-4 in the last two contests.
Neither of these teams are off to the strongest start in the world, but it’s fair to say the KIA Tigers have been more impressive out of the gate and have shown more life. The KIA Tigers should also be motivated for a bounce back performance after blowing a lead in their last outing. The NC Dinos are just in brutal, brutal form right now and can’t be backed.
Give me the KIA Tigers and the reasonable price.
