The Kiwoom Heroes and LG Twins meet Monday morning in South Korea KBO preseason baseball action.
The Kiwoom Heroes are coming off a strong 8-2 victory over the SK Wyverns and now look to win back-to-back games for the first time since mid-October. The Kiwoom Heroes have still lost six of their last seven games overall. In their most recent performance, Kim Gyu-min and Park Byung-ho combined for two hits and two RBI while Choi Won-tae pitched five shutout innings with three strikeouts and one walk. The Kiwoom Heroes have to prove that their last game wasn’t a fluke, as this club was sleepwalking their last several games and are still averaging just 3.6 runs through three preseason contests.
The LG Twins are 1-2 in preseason play and are coming off a competitive loss to SK Wyverns where they lost in walk-off fashion. The LG Twins have been outscored 14-6 in their last two games and hope to avoid their first three-game losing streak since late September. In their most recent outing, Lee Chun-woong and Park Yong-taik combined for two hits and two RBI while Lim Chan-gyu allowed one run and struck out four in four innings. The LG Twins are averaging 3.6 runs per game through three preseason contests and it will be interesting to see how they respond after such a heartbreaking loss their last time out.
The Kiwoom Heroes have won five of the last seven meetings against the LG Twins, which includes a 10-5 win in October. Six of the last 10 meetings between the Heroes and Twins have produced eight or more runs.
There’s been some high scoring games between the Heroes and Twins dating back to last season, but both of these clubs are averaging 3.6 runs through three preseason games, so you have to kind of lean toward the under in this spot. Eight of the LG Twins last 10 games have included nine or less runs and the offense just isn’t there for them time and time again. Taking the under on this fairly high total almost seems too easy and could be a trap, but I’ll take the cheese anyway.
