The Hanwha Eagles and LG Twins meet Wednesday morning in South Korea KBO preseason baseball action.
The Hanwha Eagles are 0-2-2 in preseason action and have failed to produce a win in each of their last seven games. The Hanwha Eagles are coming off a 3-3 draw with the KT Wiz Suwon, a game in which they scored all three runs in the first inning. In the result, Kim Min-hyeok and Kang Baek-ho combined for three hits and one RBI while Kim Min allowed two earned runs and four hits in 5.2 innings. The Hanwha Eagles just can’t get out of their own way these days and a lot of it has to do with an offense that’s averaging 2.75 runs through four preseason games. Once the offense opens up, Hanwha will become a lot more attractive back.
The LG Twins are 1-3 in preseason play and have lost each of their last three games. The most recent performance for the Twins was a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Kiwoom Heroes. In that game, Lee Hyung-jong and Kim Min-sung combined for four hits and two RBI while Tyler Wilson allowed zero runs and one hit in 3.1 innings of work. The LG Twins are another team that’s struggling on the offensive side, averting 3.25 runs per game this preseason and have scored a combined two runs in their last 10 innings. The LG Twins haven’t lost four straight games since June of last year.
The Hanwha Eagles have won three of the last four meetings against the LG Twins but have lost six of the last nine meetings overall. The last two meetings between the Eagles and Twins have produced a combined 24 runs.
You can make a case for either side in this contest given the struggles, but I think it's safe to say that the LG Twins are in better form and at least have a victory the preseason. The Hanwha Eagles haven't produced a victory in each of their last seven games and the offense just isn't there at all. It's the LG Twins or pass in this KBO preseason contest.
