The Lotte Giants and Samsung Lions meet Friday morning in South Korea KBO preseason baseball action.
The Lotte Giants remain hot in preseason play with a 4-1 record after beating the NC Dinos, 4-1 a couple days ago. The Lotte Giants have won three straight preseason contests and are averaging nine runs during that stretch. In their most recent contest, Kim Min-soo and Kim Jae-yoo combined for two hits and three RBI while Song Seung-jun allowed zero hits and zero runs while striking out one in two innings. The Lotte Giants have simply caught fire over these last couple of weeks and simply don’t look like the same team that ended the regular season on an eight-game losing streak.
The Samsung Lions have lost back-to-back games but are still 3-2 in preseason play. The Samsung Lions are coming off a 4-3 loss at the hands of the KIA Tigers and have been outscored 8-16 in their last two games. In their most recent effort, Lee Sung-gyu and Koo Ja-wook combined for three hits and three RBI while Baek Jung-hyun allowed one run and four hits while striking out five in four innings. The Samsung Lions have to get their pitching staff back in order if they’re going to rebound and start producing positive results again.
The Lotte Giants have won five of the last eight meetings against the Samsung Lions, and it was the Giants that won the most recent match a few days ago, 12-5. Five of the last six meetings have produced single digit runs.
The Samsung Lions are coming off back to back losses and their pitching staff has gotten rocked as of late. The Lotte Giants are 4-1 in preseason action and are riding a wave of momentum, looking nothing like the team that entered preseason riding an eight-game losing streak. You almost have to ride the hot hand until it runs cold. The Lotte Giants have also won five of the last eight games against the Samsung Lions, including a 12-5 win a couple days ago.
I’ll gladly take the Lotte Giants and the slight plus money.
