Uni Lions (-200) - Fubon Guardians (+150)
The Uni Lions (7-7) and the Fubon Guardians (4-9) will meet on Saturday, May 2nd, for a 1st Stage baseball game in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be the 2nd game of a three-game series between these two teams.
In the first game of the series, the Uni Lions bats were alive and well. The Lions scored early and often, owning a 10-0 lead by the end of the 3rd inning. The Lions went on to win the game by the final score 15-6 in an absolute offensive explosion. The Lions have now scored 35 runs in their last three games, averaging more than 11 runs per game in that stretch! Fubon has gone through a rough stretch on both sides of the ball, as they added another loss to their already league-worst record of 4-9.
The CPBL is a more offensive-minded league in general (probably even more so than the MLB), but the way the Lions have batted as of late is still extremely impressive. It is almost impossible to lose a baseball game when your team scores 11 runs per game, so if they can keep this up, the Rakuten Monkeys (9-3) may start to get worried.
This matchup sees the Lions as 2/1 favorites on the Win Line, one day after they were getting +145 odds against this same team. This goes to show how unpredictable this team has been thus far, as when they are on, they are tough to beat.
In this game, there is no way possible that I do not take the Uni Lions. This team's offense from top to bottom has been unstoppable in recent games, and I have to side with hot bats in a league like this. Looking at the win line, there is not too much value in taking Uni at -200 odds, therefore I will look towards the run line. Giving 1.5 runs and grabbing a +105 price while doing it is a no-brainer for me in this matchup, as I will ride the hotter team until they prove to me they have cooled down. Uni -1.5 is the pick for me.
