The Uni Lions (7-8) and the Fubon Guardians (5-9) will meet on Sunday, May 3rd, for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). These teams split the first two of their three-game series, so who will take the all-important rubber match on Sunday?

In the first game of this series, it was the Uni Lions who were on top 15-6 in blowout fashion. The exact opposite happened on Saturday, as the Fubon Guardians were able to take down those Lions 11-2 in a game that was in their control from start to finish. Fubon pitched well throughout the game, only allowing five hits and two runs to a team that obliterated them in the first game of the series.

Fubon is still in last place in the league, with a record of 5-9. Being four games under .500 puts them 5.5 games behind the Rakuten Monkeys for the first place spot in the standings thus far. This would be an extremely important series win for Fubon, who are still trying to find consistencies on both the offensive and pitching side of the game. Allowing only two runs to a Lions team that has been on an absolute tear offensively as of late is a big morale win for the Guardians, who have struggled in the allowing runs department this season.

Uni's streak of scoring at least eight runs was snapped at five games, which is impressive nonetheless. Uni will look to get back on track in game three of this series, as they are now back under .500 yet again in the record column.

After this game, both the Lions and Guardians will have a day off on Monday, which is much-needed for especially this Lions team.

When it comes down to game three of this series, anything can happen. I think runs will be scored all over the place in this game, as both teams bats should be firing on all cylinders. The total in this game is not too bad at 13.5 (which would be extremely high for an MLB game), so I will take the over in this game.

Ronald’s Pick Over 13.5 (-110)

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a Sports Chat Place site consensus.
