The KIA Tigers and Kiwoom Heroes meet Tuesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action.
The KIA Tigers finished the preseason with three straight victories and are 6-2-1 in their last nine games overall. In their most recent contest, the KIA Tigers beat the NC Dinos 4-0. In that victory, Na Ji-wan and Oh Seon-woo combined for three hits and four RBI while Lee Min-woo allowed zero runs and two hits while striking out two in five innings of work. The KIA Tigers have allowed one or less runs in each of their last 24 innings, which is a positive sign heading into the regular season.
The Kiwoom Heroes wrapped up their preseason on a four-game winning streak and finished 4-2 in exhibition play overall. The Kiwoom Heroes are coming off a 5-3 win over the SK Wyverns where they scored four runs in the first three innings. In the victory, Kim Hye-sung and Lee Taek-keun combined for two hits and three RBI while Choi Won-tae allowed zero runs and three hits while striking out two in four innings. The Kiwoom Heroes have scored a combined 15 runs in their last two games and have been hot offensively all preseason long.
The Kiwoom Heroes are 7-2-1 in their last 10 meetings against the KIA Tigers, and these teams haven’t played since late September. Seven of the last nine meetings have produced double-digit runs.
The Kiwoom Heroes have killed it offensively all preseason long and have the clear head to head advantage against the KIA Tigers. However, the KIA Tigers are a team that's been kind to us in preseason play, especially in the underdog role, and they come into the regular season with consistent pitching and haven't allowed more than one run in each of their last 24 innings. Pitching usually has the edge early in the regular season when players are still adjusting to getting back in the swing of things. I'll favor pitching over hitting early in the season and see where that takes us.
Like we've done a few times already, give me the KIA Tigers and the plus money.
