The KT Wiz Suwon and Lotte Giants meet Wednesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action.
The KT Wiz Suwon had a successful preseason and had a lead heading into the seventh inning Tuesday morning, but all hell broke loose late when they allowed six runs between the seventh and eighth. The good news is you have to go back to September 12-13 the last time the KT Wiz Suwon lost back to back games. In their latest effort, Kang Baek-ho and Park Kyung-soo combined for one hit and two RBI while Odrisamer Despaigne allowed one run and four hits in six innings of work. The KT Wiz Suwon simply have their bullpen to thank for not producing a victory on opening day and that’s worth watching moving forward.
The Lotte Giants have won five straight games when you thitem in the preseason and their offense has been on fire during this stretch. The Lotte Giants are averaging 8.4 runs per game during their current five-game winning streak. In their last effort, Dixon Machado and Jeon Jun-woo combined for three hits and six RBI while Dan Straily allowed two runs and three hits in 5.2 innings of work. The Lotte Giants put together a complete performance in their regular season opener, and they’re going to be a tough out if this offense continues to produce at this level.
The KT Wiz Suwon are 7-3-1 in their last 11 meetings against the Lotte Giants, and they’ve lost just three times in the last 15 meetings overall. Eight of the last 11 meetings have produced single digit run totals.
The KT Wiz Suwon have owned the head to head and had their chances to win the opener until the bullpen fell apart. Still, the Lotte Giants are so hot offensively that they’re hard to bet against right now. Also, the Giants pitching had picked up lately, allowing just 3.3 runs per game in their last three contests. We’re starting to see some balance from the Lotte Giants and they’re a team that may be worth watching as this season picks up. I’m on the Lotte Giants bandwagon right now.
