The Line: KIA Tigers -115 / Samsung Lions -115 -- Over/Under: 9
The Samsung Lions and KIA Tigers meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action.
The Samsung Lions get their first win of the regular season and snapped a six-game losing streak in the process. The Samsung Lions went from scoring five runs in their first three regular season games to scoring five runs last night in a victory. In the winning effort, Koo Ja-wook and Tyler Saladino combined for four hits and four RBI while Choi Chae-heung allowed zero runs and one hit in five innings of work. The Samsung Lions haven’t allowed a run in each of their last 11 innings. Won Tae-in gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.
The KIA Tigers drop to 1-3 in the regular season and now haven’t scored a run in each of their last 10 innings. The KIA Tigers are averaging three runs per game through four regular season contests. In their losing effort, Park Chan-ho and Choi Hyung-woo combined for two hits while Drew Gagnon allowed four runs and five hits in 5.1 innings of work. The KIA Tigers have produced four or less runs in five of their last six games overall. Im Ki-young gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.
The Samsung Lions have won six of the last nine meetings against the KIA Tigers and they split two preseason matchups. Eight of the last 10 meetings between the Lions and Tigers have produced single digit run totals.
It's hard to get a feel for either of these teams when you consider they're both 1-3 in the regular season and have both had issues on the offensive end. These are spots where I like to avoid both sides and focus on the total, and I'm leaning toward the under in this spot. Both the Lions and Tigers have struggled putting runs on the board through eight combined regular season games and the under has cashed in eight of the last 10 meetings overall. That seems to be a good trend to get behind for this contest and the total seems a bit too high based on the numbers we've seen up to this point.
Give me the under nine runs.
