The Fubon Guardians (9-11) and Chinatrust Brothers (9-12) will meet on Thursday, May 14th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Fubon won game one of this series, will game two be the same?
Fubon took down the Chinatrust Brothers 9-3 on Wednesday, a win that moved them into second place in the CPBL standings. Chinatrust took an early lead of 2-0 and they led 3-2 all the way up until the bottom of 6th inning, where Fubon found themselves with the lead. The Guardians would add a tally in the 7th and four in the 8th to extend their lead to 9-3.
Chinatrust is now three games under .500 with a 9-12 record, while Fubon is 0.5 game ahead with a 9-11 record. If Chinatrust can defeat Fubon in this game on Thursday, they will jump back into 2nd place in the standings with a 0.5 game of their own. Chinatrust is now on a three-game losing streak after losing twice to Rakuten and now once to Fubon.
Fubon has won two of their last three games overall, as they look to add to their lead of second place in the standings to 1.5 games. Fubon's pitching staff has really aided them in this stretch, as the Guardians, for the most part, have kept their opponents off the scoreboard for large parts of ballgames.
The Win Line in this game shows that Thursday's contest should be pretty competitive, as the Fubon Guardians are only -150 favorites, a lower number than we are used to seeing in the CPBL. Inversely, Chinatrust is +110 dogs on the win line respectively.
I think this is a game that Chinatrust comes out hot, just as they did on Wednesday. Chinatrust did a poor job of holding the lead in game one of this series, therefore I think that will be a focal point for them in game two. I see Chinatrust taking the early lead and holding it throughout the game, winning their 10th game of the season, and moving back into second place in the CPBL standings.
