Uni Lions (-119) Chinatrust (-105)
The Uni Lions (10-14) and the Chinatrust Brothers (10-13) will meet on Saturday, May 16th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). The Uni Lions were victorious in a pitcher's duel in game one of this series, how will game two play out?
The Uni Lions were able to get out of the CPBL basement (last place in the standings), as they won their 10th game of the season in a 2-1 battle over the Brothers of Chinatrust. Both teams usually do not play with a 'pitching and defense' first style, but they found themselves battling it out until the very end on Friday. All Uni needed to do offensively was score their two runs in the first inning, as the pitchers got the rest of the job done.
Chinatrust certainly can not be happy with a one-run performance on offense, especially when their entire pitching staff does a great job and earns the loss. Both teams earned eight hits in an almost even game, but the final score said otherwise.
Game two of this series looks to be just as close according to the bookies, as Uni opens as the slight favorite at -119 odds. The underdog Brothers are not even much of the dog, as they are at -105 odds on the Win Line themselves.
The season series between these two teams is now tied at five games apiece, as both teams have treated each game as a postseason contest. A win for Uni would put them right back into second place in the CPBL standings, a feat that no one most likely saw coming just a week ago. Uni is now over their dreadful six-game losing streak, and they are out for blood.
This is also a big game for Chinatrust, as they cannot let Uni leapfrog them in the standings, even at this point in the season. You never want to give any team a good string of momentum in a four-team league.
I think this game will be tight, hard-fought, and the victor will be based on who makes the least amount of mistakes. Uni had two bad errors in the field on Friday, and their at times 'sloppy' play may hurt them in a game like this. I will take Chinatrust on the Win Line in this game.
