Fubon Guardians (+214) Rakuten Monkeys (-312)
The Fubon Guardians (9-13) and the Rakuten Monkeys (16-5) will meet on Sunday, May 17th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Saturday's game between these two teams was postponed, so with the extra day of rest, how will these teams react?
As stated in the introduction, game two between the Guardians and Monkeys was postponed on Saturday, thus making Sunday's matchup 'game two'. On Friday, Rakuten defeated the Fubon Guardians by the final score of 7-6 in extra-innings. That ten-inning classic gave Rakuten their seventh win over Fubon this season, as the Monkeys are a perfect 7-0 against their rival Guardians so far this season.
Fubon is certainly hungry to get their first win over Rakuten this year, especially now that they have the least amount of wins in the CPBL (Uni Lions are behind them in the standings but have more losses). Fubon is looking to join the rest of the league in the 'double-digit win club' and earn their tenth victory of the young campaign.
Sunday's betting line shows that the Rakuten Monkeys are big favorites yet again, as they have a -312 price on the Win Line. Fubon enters as the underdog with a +214 price respectively. With both teams' pitching staffs earning the day off with the postponement, it will be interesting to see if the rest keeps this game more lower-scoring.
I tend to think that Fubon is a lot better than what their record shows, as they have played significantly better as of late. I think they have a solid chance of winning this game, and with a +214 price, there is so much value on them in this contest. I will take the Fubon Guardians to win this game at +214 odds on the Win Line, as I think this game will be close, and the immense amount of value is too much to pass for me. There is no wonder why this game has one of the lowest totals for a CPBL game I have seen this season at 11.5, as this game should be tight.
