The Chinatrust Brothers (12-13) and the Fubon Guardians (10-13) will meet on Friday, May 22nd for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). A win for Fubon brings them even with Chinatrust in the standings, so a lot is on the line in game one of this series.
The last three days of the CPBL have been postponed due to weather, therefore each of the four teams in the league has earned an extra few days of rest. Although it may be frustrating for fans and bettors alike, the players will surely not mind being able to rejuvenate for a little while, as this league’s schedule is already a bit grueling.
In the last game for Chinatrust on May 17th, the Brothers were able to destroy the Uni Lions by the final score of 19-9. Chinatrust may be the team that is at the biggest disadvantage of this extended break, as they certainly would have loved to hop right back on the field after a morale-boosting victory like that one. Chinatrust is now only one game under .500 at 12-13, as they look to extend their second-place lead over Fubon to two games with a big win.
Fubon defeated the league’s best team in the standings, the Rakuten Monkeys, 9-7 on May 17th as well. Fubon and Chinatrust are both certainly trending upwards after recent imperative wins. Both teams got off to a slower start at the beginning of the season, but similarly are starting to catch fire here in the middle-to-end of May.
The betting line for this contest shows the Chinatrust Brothers opening as the modest favorites at a -149 price on the Win-Line. Fubon is the underdog with a +100 or EVEN price on the Win-Line respectively. Chinatrust is -1.5 runs at +155 odds on the run line, while Fubon is +1.5 at -210. I like Chinatrust to get back to where they left off in this one, as this Brothers team has looked very impressive as of late. Although Fubon will bring quite the tough matchup, I like Chinatrust’s chances in game one of this series.
