Chinatrust Brothers (+198) Fubon Guardians (-278)
The Chinatrust Brothers (12-13) and the Fubon Guardians (10-13) will meet on Saturday, May 23rd for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Hopefully the weather is nicer in Taiwan on Saturday than it has been these past four days, as rain-postponements have owned the week.
That's right, four straight postponement days of CPBL baseball. A strange yet frustrating feat, but nonetheless, baseball should be back on Saturday, weather provided of course. The Chinatrust Brothers are itching to get back on the field after their 19-9 victory over the Uni Lions on Sunday. Chinatrust most likely will not complain about having a five-day break in the middle of the season, but it does look like they will be without a few key pieces in this game.
Fubon defeated the Rakuten Monkeys in their last game overall, 9-7 on Sunday. Fubon is looking to earn the win in this contest and draw even with Chinatrust for second place in the CPBL. A loss for Fubon puts them 2.0 games behind Chinatrust, and they do not want to play catch-up for too much longer this season. Fubon entered this year as one of the favorites to win the CPBL, but a rough start has them in third place. Fubon has caught fire as of late, as they have won many key games recently, including their last win over Rakuten.
Fubon opens this game as the big favorite, as it looks as if Chinatrust will be without a few players on Saturday. No announcement has been made by the team, but the bookies always know what is going on. Normally, Chinatrust would be the favorite in this game, so the fact that Fubon is -278 on the Win-Line shows me that there is something we may not know about. I would stay clear of this game because of the fishy line, but if you had to make a bet, I would take the over. Both of these teams can score runs at a great pace, and the total is only at 11.5. I expect one of these teams to hit double-digits, and I would not be surprised if they both did.
