The Fubon Guardians (12-13) and the Chinatrust Brothers (13-14) will meet on Friday, May 29th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This should be one of the most exciting three-game series’ throughout the entire regular season in the CPBL, as two teams that are tied in the standings battle it out.
The Fubon Guardians and Chinatrust Brothers have a lot on the line heading into this series this weekend in the CPBL. Both teams are tied for second/third place in the CPBL standings, as both teams are just one game under .500. Game one of this series will guarantee that one of these teams will make it back to .500, which is a huge feat for either ball club.
Fubon was supposed to finish up their series with the Rakuten Monkeys on Thursday, but the rain we are so used to in the CPBL poured down, and the game was postponed. Fubon will certainly take the extra day’s rest, as this series will prove to be a lot more important.
Chinatrust had the day off on Thursday, which was much-needed after their extra-inning battle with the Uni Lions on Wednesday. Chinatrust took a 4-0 lead in that game, only to allow seven unanswered runs to the Lions. Down 7-4 in the seventh inning, Chinatrust scored two in the seventh, and one in the eighth to nod the score at 7. The teams went to extra innings and in the 11th inning, Chinatrust scored four runs to take an 11-7 lead. Uni would not go away, however, as the Lions quickly put up three runs in the bottom of the 11th to make it a one-run game. Chinatrust was able to get the final outs to survive and win one of the most entertaining games of the season.
The betting line for this game shows the Fubon Guardians as the favorites at -152 on the Win-Line. The Chinatrust Brothers open as the underdogs with a +112 price respectively. I like how both teams have been playing recently, as there is no wonder why they are knocking on the door of the Rakuten Monkeys in first place. I expect this to be a tight battle between two teams that want it a lot, so I am going to take the under 13.5 runs.
