The Fubon Guardians (13-14) and the Uni Lions (12-19) will meet on Wednesday, June 3rd for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be a two-game series between third and fourth place in the CPBL standings.
The Fubon Guardians are coming off a 1-1 split with the Chinatrust Brothers in their last series. Fubon’s last game overall was a win against those Brothers, 4-2. As of late, Fubon has focused mainly on the pitching side of the game, as they only allowed 11 runs in their last four games, and have not allowed more than four runs in a single game for four straight games. Simply said, Fubon is on a tear pitching-wise, and if they can keep it up, the sky is the limit.
Uni, on the other hand, is unfortunately on a downward spiral in the CPBL. After a surprisingly hot start for the Lions, the team has just not been good enough on all fronts. Uni is coming off a disappointing loss at the hands of the Rakuten Monkeys, 9-8. This was a game in which Uni made an impressive comeback only to lose by a single run in the end. Uni is now seven games under .500 and 3.0 games behind Fubon for third place in the standings. Uni has had its moments in the CPBL and should always be taken seriously, as they have proven to be quite the spoilers throughout the season, especially to Rakuten.
The betting line in this contest opens with the Fubon Guardians as the major favorites with a -300 price on the Win-Line. The Uni Lions open as the big underdog with a +230 price on the Win-Line. The total in this game is set at 11.5 runs with the over having -105 odds and the under with -115. The Run-Line has Fubon -1.5 runs at -150, Uni at +1.5 at +120.
This is a tough game to bet for sure, as the team that will most likely win this game has -300 and -150 prices, which has no value in my eyes. This Uni team has spoiled too many of these kinds of lines for me to pick against them in this one, so I am going to make my bet on the total. I think Uni cracks Fubon’s near-perfect pitching performances in this game, and both teams score at least six runs each. I will take the over at -105.
