The Chinatrust Brothers (16-15) and the Uni Lions (13-20) will meet on Friday, June 5th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League. (CPBL). These two rivals meet again, this time for a three-game weekend series.
The Chinatrust Brothers had the day off on Wednesday, which came after their two-game sweep of the Rakuten Monkeys on Monday and Tuesday. Chinatrust was indeed able to get over .500 at 16-15 thanks to the two victories against the league’s best. On Tuesday, Chinatrust defeated the Rakuten Monkeys by the final score of 8-4. Rakuten held a 4-2 lead at the end of three innings, but that did not stop Chinatrust. The Brothers were able to tie and take the lead in the seventh inning to make it a 6-4 game. Chinatrust added two more in the eighth and earned its 16th win of the year. Chinatrust is now only 3.0 games behind Rakuten in the CPBL standings for first place.
Uni did not have the luxury of an off-day on Wednesday, as they took on the Fubon Guardians. It was a close game for the entire nine innings, but in the end, Fubon was able to run away with the much-needed victory. Uni was able to split the two-game set, but splitting series will not be enough for an Uni team that is in dead-last in the CPBL standings and seven games under .500.
The betting line for this one caught me off guard I will admit. In a spot that I was almost certain Chinatrust would be favorites, Uni opens with a -130 price. Chinatrust is the underdog with a +100 price on the Win-Line. The total in this game is set at 12.5 runs with both the over and under set at -110 odds.
Since Uni is the favorite in this game, it means the bookie knows something that I do not. I feel like taking Chinatrust is “a Trap!”, so I will take the Uni Lions at -130 odds. We have had this exact situation happen to us in past CPBL games and we have won every time, if it ain’t broke, do not fix it.
