The Rakuten Monkeys (20-14) and the Chinatrust Brothers (21-16) will meet on Saturday, June 13th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game two of a three-game series between these two teams.
The Rakuten Monkeys won game one of this all-important three-game series between first and second place in the CPBL on Friday. Rakuten defeated the Chinatrust Brothers in shutout fashion, 4-0. This win for Rakuten not only gets them to the 20 win mark, but it also puts them back in sole possession of first place in the CPBL standings by 0.5 games. Although Chinatrust was able to earn eight base hits in the game, the Brothers were not able to get any runs across home plate for the first time this season. In fact, this was not only the first shutout for Rakuten this season, it is also the only shutout by any team throughout the entire season. The CPBL is such an offensive based league, every team has at least scored one run in each game played, until Friday.
Rakuten was able to score all four of their runs in the fourth inning, making it the only inning in the game where runs were scored by a team in the game (very strange occurrence for this league). Rakuten still has one less W in the win column than Chinatrust, but the Monkeys of Rakuten do have two fewer losses than Chinatrust, putting them ahead in the standings.
The betting lines in this game opens with the Rakuten Monkeys as the favorites again with a -135 price on the Win-Line. Chinatrust opens as the minor underdog with a +100 price respectively. The total in this game is set at 12.5 runs with both the over and under set at -110 odds.
I have to think this game will be much more higher-scoring than Friday’s contest, but 12.5 runs are still too steep for my liking, so I will stay away from the total altogether. I think Chinatrust will be able to bounce back in this game, as I do not think they will let Rakuten ruin all of their hard work in one series alone. I will take Chinatrust on the Win-Line at +100.
